How learning to code in SheCodes Plus React helped Stefania change her life and become a Front End Developer

Stefania is originally from Romania and now lives in sunny Barcelona, where she spends her time going on walks on the beach with her friends. ποΈ You can usually find her outdoors riding her bike or going on a hike. π²
Like so many of us, the sudden changes from the past few years caused Stefania to think deeply about the future. With a master's in Marketing, Stefania is no stranger to hard work in the pursuit of knowledge. Friends working in the technology sphere shared some of the pros and cons of the field and gave her advice on how she could get her start in the tech industry. π»
βAfter 2020 and all the changes it brought, I started thinking more about the role I was working on at that time and I felt I needed a change. Coding was something I didn't pay much attention to before because I thought it is all based on maths... but little did I know!β
βBeing surrounded by friends who worked as software engineers and who in general were very happy with their professional lives, I began asking them questions about what they do in their actual jobs and what recommendations they can give me, a beginner, to get started in this field.β
βMy motivation was to learn something totally new and SheCodes was attractive because of the great reviews it had and the whole idea behind it - a learning community for women.β

π©βπ» Her SheCodes Experience
The first step to joining the tech industry was learning how to code. In her quest for a new career, Stefania began researching coding courses before stumbling upon SheCodes on social media. She attended the free 60-minute Coding Class with Matt and knew afterwards that coding was something she wanted to try. After completing SheCodes Basics (Our Intro to Coding Class that teaches the fundamentals), Stefania went on to complete SheCodes Pro and React! πͺ π»
The hands-on weekly projects and challenges after every bite-sized lesson really made a difference for Stefania. In the end, there is nothing like hands-on practice when it comes to coding! Each lesson gave just enough information about the topic without being overwhelming. π
βHaving support from real technical assistants who can explain what is wrong and answer questions was the best thing about SheCodes for me. I think SheCodes is different from other courses because of the real life support offered, the challenging projects and practical exercises because in the end this is how you learn how to code - by writing it and learning how to read code, especially when written by someone else.β
βI liked the structure of all the courses, nothing felt rushed and all subjects were discussed in sufficient detail to understand the concept.β
Stefania loved joining the friendly community of coders. π€ Knowing that she could ask a question to the community of coders or the SheCodes technical assistants without fear of judgment helped her gain confidence in her coding skills.
βIt was very nice and quite empowering. We were all part of SheCodes with the same objectives and it is nice to see how many ladies are becoming more and more interested in tech. β
βSheCodes is a great initiative for women who want to start learning how to code for fun or actually build a career out of it. The whole community gives a nice feeling and it felt like a safe space where you could ask questions without feeling shy or thinking that your question is silly. β

All of her research and hard work paid off, Stefania is now working as a front-end developer at Novoresume! π₯³Β

Her work is very project-based and she spends her weeks using her coding skills to solve problems. Stefaniaβs new job is never boring - something she loves! π Being able to work from home while continually learning new, interesting things is a huge benefit in her eyes.
βAt the moment I am working on one project. Mondays start off with a few meetings and with me making a plan for the week in terms of what tasks I will be working on and what I want to achieve. β
βBefore I worked as an Account Manager at a business travel company. The main benefits for me working as a front end developer are the constant learning and the work itself which keeps me focused and challenged on a daily basis. The remote work is also a very nice perk. Lastly, I also think it's the excitement of working in a field which changes so fast so there is also something new to learn, and therefore low chances of getting bored of working in tech.β
In the future, Stefania hopes to be able to mentor those entering the tech industry and help them to succeed. Spreading knowledge is so powerful! π§
