Lisa-Marie

Lisa is a 26 year-old from Austria. Currently, her life mainly revolves around her dog, her work, sports (weightlifting and running), and of course, her friends! She also loves to travel by herself, but due to her fluffy companion, she says not able to do it as often as she likes. 🐶

Before SheCodes, Lisa was the assistant to the Head of IT at her company. Although she enjoyed her job, she was craving a new challenge where she could learn new things every day, and exchange ideas with others, in an area where she could picture herself long-term.

“I had the classic assistant tasks that I really enjoyed, but after some time, everything became routine and I missed the challenge.”

So Lisa started to search online for further education opportunities that would allow her to learn with a flexible schedule and quickly gain a lot of information so she could quickly decide if that area would be a good fit for her. 

One day, she stumbled upon SheCodes, fell in love - and the rest is History. 😍

Lisa really enjoyed learning with SheCodes because she could manage her own time and she found everything to be well explained. Lisa mentioned everything went smoothly without any major problems or errors, and she says that funnily enough, she had almost no difficulties with the tasks!

Students have weekly deadlines to keep them motivated during their coding journey but they’re always able to extend them if needed. And on our Slack workspace, our technical assistants offer technical support to anyone who’s stuck with their code.

By the time she graduated from SheCodes, Lisa had exactly what she was missing when she started - confidence.

She managed to secure a job with a company that builds websites using WordPress and TYPO3. She’s working mainly with WordPress now and has already developed her own theme! She’s a fish in water - completely in her element! 🐟

Lisa’s advice to fellow junior coders is simple: to leave your fear behind and make that jump!

“Don't be afraid to take the leap! It may seem like a big step, but with a job in this field, you have so many opportunities to shape your life as you want. You just have to start, trust yourself, and enjoy the learning process.”
