🙍♀️ Before SheCodes
Violeta is a dedicated mother of 3 boys who runs to the beach every spare second she has. Her favorite hobby is without a doubt surfing with her boys. 🏄♀️
From Lisbon, Portugal, Violeta used to work in Quality Assurance (QA) at a Saas company before SheCodes. She was working mostly with manual tests and release management.
She’d always been curious about technology and wanted to move her career to a different path. And one day, one of our alumni told her husband about SheCodes and soon after, Violeta became our student! 😍

👩💻 Her SheCodes Experience
Violeta is a multi-tasking hero - she started SheCodes at a very busy time of her life! She recalls that a lot has happened since the graduated from SheCodes and looking back she can see SheCodes a first kick to move her career forward. She did her first workshop during her maternity leave for her second son which came with struggles any new mom will understand.
“It was 4 years ago already! Looking back I have only good memories but I recall some struggle as well 😄”
She remembers doing SheCodes Plus while working on the night shift and with two small kids. On weekends, her husband would take her kids out so she could take a moment for herself and do some coding! 😍
Months later, during the pandemic, Violeta recalls escaping to her mother's house to work on the SheCodes React final project while her kids were at home with her husband.
“The struggle was real 😄, a lot has happened since then and looking back I see SheCodes as the great first kick for me.”

SheCodes Plus Project
Violeta also remembers a curious coincidence with someone she met during her workshop 👀
“I do recall a curious story which was that I met a girl in my first workshop, I had lunch with her. At that time the first workshop was a full 2-day workshop. Some months after I did that, a friend of mine told me she gave a ride to a girl from Lisbon to Porto and for some reason in the middle of that talk they talked about me - it was the girl I met. Small world. I wonder what she is doing now.”

🙋 How SheCodes has Helped to Change Her Life
With SheCodes as a starting point, Violeta changed the direction of her career. After graduating, she enrolled in a full-stack engineering course. She is now working as a QA Engineer at a robotics company! 🤖 She spends her days doing automation and manual tests suits for software in Python.
