Filipa is a motivated SheCoder who came into SheCodes with the goal of changing careers and transitioning into tech, and we couldnβt be prouder to share that she has done just that! π π©βπ»Β
Filipa is from Lisbon, Portugal and is still currently living there. She has a strong background in Architecture. She studied it during her university years in Lisbon, along with design, painting, and drawing. She enjoys painting, contemporary dance, and reading in her free time. π¨ π πΒ
Sheβs definitely very creative, so itβs no surprise that she was interested in learning how to code, as well! Filipa heard great things about coding from her friends and her interest started to grow. She was hesitant to start learning how to code at first, but says that she is so happy that she learned with SheCodes! Weβre so happy that she chose SheCodes to start her coding journey, too! π

Filipa tried a few other online coding courses before SheCodes, but she says that the support and curriculum of SheCodes were hard to beat!Β
βI tried some online coding courses on Coursera and also freeCodeCamp. SheCodes gave me more confidence and knowledge as the curriculum is very complete. Also having a support team always available to answer to our doubts makes all the difference.β
Filipa supports the mission of SheCodes and thinks itβs necessary to bring more women into the IT realm while offering an approachable and convenient way to learn. She says that the self-paced, engaging, and beginner-friendly approach of SheCodes was perfect for her! π And she also loved the environment and learning with other women.
βI think the concept of SheCodes is wonderful. It not only opens doors for those who may not have the time and money to invest in a course at a school, but it also gives the opportunity for many women who have to manage their lives alone, and sometimes with children, to be able to go on studying according to their own schedules.β

As aforementioned, Filipa joined SheCodes with the main motivation to change her career path and enter the world of tech. Filipa has been successful in accomplishing this goal and we are so proud of her! π€©Β
Filipa is now a Junior Web Developer working at 4TE, a company that develops state-of-the-art IT solutions for the pharmaceutical industry with offices in Portugal and Brazil. She handles maintenance and expansion of the company's websites, along with creation of web apps. Her SheCodes knowledge helped her in getting this role and sheβs now much happier!Β
βMy life really turned 180 degrees since I enrolled in SheCodes. I got a job as a web developer. My life shifted so quickly that somedays I wake up and can't believe this is really happening. Less than one year ago I was this person wondering if this kind of online course is just a waste of time.... but I'm deeply happy to have followed my intuition and enrolled in SheCodes.β
βI started studying coding in December 2020 and in July 2021 I got my first job as a web developer π π©βπ» I came from a completely different area (architecture), so it was a big change that involved a lot of studying and dedication. SheCodes was the first step in my leap in this area.β

Filipa says that other coders should set their goals and persevere in order to reach all of their coding goals! πͺ π» And to stay confident, of course!Β
βSet your goals and don't give up. I want to tell other women reading this to stay confident because it is possible and I truly believe that if your decision is to change your career path you're going to make it happen!!β
