Aline

Originally from Brazil and now living in The Netherlands, Aline is a Test Automation Engineer who loves her job and contributing to software quality. She's a curious, cheerful, and optimistic person who enjoys traveling, being in nature, organizing, listening to classical music, singing karaoke, and watching anime in her free time.

Before her current role, she worked in procurement and project management, gaining valuable experience in supplier coordination, material quotes, and negotiation for projects. 

However, Aline was eager to start a more stimulating career path which ultimately sparked her desire to dive into the world of coding. Her interest in learning how to code started specifically when she moved to the Netherlands and wanted to change her career path. Although she always felt a curiosity for coding, she used to be afraid and believed it was mainly for men or people with computer science degrees. 

Her first job in tech as a manual software tester was enjoyable, but she found it less exciting than she had hoped. Coding skills were required to progress in her career which made her a bit scared at first. 

Then one day, Aline stumbled upon SheCodes through a YouTube ad and attended SheCodes Express, our free webinar. During the class, Matt showed her that everyone can learn how to code and inspired her to start learning! 🤓

Aline's experience with SheCodes was intense and amazing. She found the lectures easy to follow and interesting, thanks to Matt's way of teaching. 

She also found that our structured community support played a vital role in keeping her motivated. 💪

With SheCodes, Aline overcame her fear of learning software development and gained the foundation she needed to pursue automation frameworks. SheCodes provided her with the technical skills she required to work in a test automation engineering role, as many of them are based on JavaScript.

She also recalls that being part of a community of women who had successfully changed their careers and reading their stories proved to be a huge motivation for her whenever she felt discouraged.

Aline is now working as a Test Automation Engineer in a Dutch company that focuses on cybersecurity and software quality assurance. We’re so proud!! 😍

Aline has some helpful advice for future SheCodes students. She suggests not letting fear and insecurity hold you back from learning something new. Even if it feels scary, she encourages new students to go for it anyway. 

She also emphasizes the importance of understanding difficult things by breaking them down and asking for help when needed. And finally, she encourages future students to always ask for help if they have questions or are feeling stuck.
