Natalie

Natalie is a SheCoder who has made big leaps in her coding journey before even graduating from all SheCodes workshops! 😄 She’s originally from Virginia, USA, and is still living there today. She enjoys painting, sketching, reading, and writing. She also enjoys learning new skills in her free time - so it’s no surprise that she started learning how to code!

Natalie has a background in creative writing and IT support. In the past, she’s worked as an Assistant Store Manager, IT inventory specialist, and IT support specialist. Over the years, she gained some knowledge of website automation and Cyber Security. She first became interested in coding while studying Cyber Security.

“While pursuing a degree in cyber security, my classes touched on different coding languages, and that piqued my interest. I was researching coding information on YouTube and came across SheCodes.”

Natalie decided that it was the right time for her to jump into front-end development and started learning with SheCodes right away! 🙌

Natalie was motivated to join SheCodes because of the cost, flexibility, live tech support, community, and experienced instructor. 💪 💻

She had tried a few other online courses in the past but wasn’t receiving as much technical help as she needed. She found that the SheCodes community offered her the support needed to dive deeper into coding.

Her favorite parts of SheCodes were the final projects and community. She also supports the mission of SheCodes. 💜

Thanks to SheCodes, Natalie was able to transition from working in an IT Helpdesk to working as a Quality Analyst Engineer! 😍 The coding knowledge she gained made her feel confident, capable, and prepared to take on the tech world! 👩‍💻

In a typical day, Natalie collaborates with developers and provides feedback after testing their code using website automation. She has many more job benefits than she had before and is loving her new position and freedom so far, along with her team! 🤩As a busy mother and wife, Natalie appreciates the flexibility of working from home, something that wasn’t possible until she gained the necessary tech skills from SheCodes. 🏡 Natalie is looking optimistically towards the future with her new career that allows her to constantly build on her coding skills and invest in her future.

“With this new job, I am working from home, and the base salary was a 22% increase from my previous job. This new job is something I can delve into and fully invest in myself.”

What does the future hold? Natalie is keeping her options open! She plans to dig deeper into cyber security, finish every SheCodes workshop, and maybe even make the switch to a development position. Natalie is confident that her new skills are applicable to a variety of rewarding careers - and we’d have to agree. 🤩

“I'm not certain how the future will play out. I think I would like to continue to pursue coding and become a developer. I am also still interested in working in cyber security down the road.”

Natalie believes that SheCodes can be a powerful factor when helping students change their futures! 👩‍💻 We’d have to agree that a little coding knowledge can go a long way - who knows, you may alter your future career trajectory by learning how to code. 😏
