Blake

Blake is a student who gained a solid coding foundation with SheCodes and has landed a role as a Frontend Developer! ⭐️ She’s originally from Seattle but is currently living and working in London. She loves traveling, watching films, having game nights, and going to pub trivia in her free time! She’s a woman of many interests! 😄 She received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Art Business. After her studies, she gained work experience in digital marketing and operations management.

She first came into contact with coding while she was working in digital marketing. She started to realize that a little coding knowledge could go a long way and developed a passion for coding. 🖥

“I worked in digital marketing and a lot of the work I was doing involved webpages and utilizing basic html and css. It was through this that I really started to discover my passion for coding and decided to learn Javascript.”

Blake found SheCodes on social media and decided to start her coding journey! She was enticed by SheCodes' curriculum and mission. She started with a free class and then signed up for a workshop almost immediately following. 🙌

Blake’s favorite parts of the workshop were the projects because she felt she could really express her creativity and put all of her new coding skills into action. 💪 💻 She also enjoyed the friendly coding community filled with women from around the world. 

Blake also really enjoyed the beginner-friendly approach of SheCodes, along with the flexible schedule and value. 😁 She found the fact that her projects could be showcased in her job interviews to be extremely helpful, as well.

Thanks to SheCodes, Blake built up her skill set, gained some coding confidence, and grew her network. 🤩 We’re so glad that Blake joined SheCodes in order to build up a strong tech foundation and transition to a career in development!!

Blake is now working as a Frontend Developer at Amplience, a Software Development company based in London. 😍 She’s putting her React knowledge gained in SheCodes to good use and we couldn’t be more thrilled for her!

“I've recently accepted a new role as a Frontend Developer where I’m utilising React and would love to thank the SheCodes team for igniting my interest and supporting women breaking into the tech industry.”

Her daily tasks include team meetings, collaborating with other departments, fixing bugs for the live website, building React components for new webpages, and improving the overall website performance. 👩‍💻 She says that her new job allows her a lot more flexibility than her previous job and she also loves that she’ll never stop learning in this job! 🙌

Blake would like to continue learning more technologies and languages to work towards becoming a Full-stack Developer in the future! We can’t wait to see her coding journey continue to progress!
