How Clara fell in love with coding and discovered her future career path.
πββοΈ Before SheCodes
In 2019, Clara was a bit lost as to what career path she wanted to pursue. In her undergraduate degree, she had studied Management and Economics in Business school, and then went on to study Biomedical Engineering; however, she still felt like something was missing when it came to her future career. One of the courses that had deeply interested her in university was Programming in C. This is how she decided to delve deeper into the coding world and enter SheCodes. π
Her motivation for learning how to code was to find her passion and future career path. And SheCodes gave her a taste of what it was like to code without breaking the bank.Β
βAcademically and professionally speaking, I was looking for my real passion in life, and since I had already coded in C, even if just a bit, I took SheCodes because I thought it could help me understand if Web Dev could be my passion.β

Besides Claraβs university class, she also took one other coding course besides SheCodes.
βI can say that SheCodes is, in my opinion, way better than the other online course I took, because in SheCodes we had a great - and fun - instructor. Also, having supportive classmates who loved the coding challenges as much as I did also played a big part in it! Whenever I had a question, I could ask and receive help. There was a really positive, although demanding, atmosphere from start to finish.β
In her SheCodes workshops, Clara really enjoyed the homework, feedback, and unique teaching methods that set SheCodes apart from other online coding courses.Β
βI really liked the fact that we had homework and could get feedback on it; for me, it has always been a great way to learn. During lessons, Matt's approach and pedagogy was also perfect: for a certain topic, he would give us a theoretical note on it, followed by an example and then an exercise for us to complete. I also fancied the times when he challenged us by introducing new topics!β
When asked what her favorite part of the SheCodes workshops was, she said it was definitely developing the final projects because it was really fun and challenging. Her projects are creative and very impressive πΒ
Clara also said that her experience learning with other women was great because of the friendly and comfortable learning environment.
βBeing a woman in the tech world can sometimes be overwhelming given the low percentage of female presence in the field and learning side by side with other women makes one feel more comfortable.β

SheCodes gave Clara the direction and zest for her future that she had been looking for. She discovered her true passion and decided that she wanted a future career in coding. She had found her calling thanks to SheCodes. π©βπ»

Clara graduated in 2023 from an Integrated Masters in Computer Science at NOVA University. Thanks to her SheCodes knowledge and passion for coding, she's been working on personal coding projects in her free time, as well.
Clara recently landed a job as an Information Security Consultant, where she makes sure organizations comply with several national and international cybersecurity standards.

In Claraβs opinion, SheCodes is extremely valuable because it can wildly expand oneβs horizons, open the doors to new career opportunities, and show us the making behind things that are essential in our daily lives.
βI think it can really be an eye-opening course for anyone who is interested in changing their professional life, or just to broaden their horizons, showing the art and science behind the making and developing of these so very essential things in our day-to-day lives, like websites and apps.β
