Meet Tamsyn ๐ฟ๐ฆ! Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Tamsyn is a curious and motivated learner who loves baking sweet treats, catching up on Netflix, going on shopping sprees, and staying up-to-date with industry trends through reading and research. She also has a fascination for crime and investigation shows, which might explain her passion for digging deeper and discovering new things โ itโs actually what led her to coding in the first place! ๐
Before joining SheCodes, Tamsyn worked in retail as a General Manager and Administrator, where she guided her team, managed finances, made strategic decisions, and maintained important relationships with stakeholders. While sheโd learned some HTML back in high school, she didnโt realize coding could be a career until she started researching more about the tech field. Intrigued by the possibilities, she found herself captivated by IT and software development.
After watching the SheCodes 60-minute Free Coding Class, Tamsyn was inspired to dive deeper. She explored SheCodes on social media and found the content informative and real, which made her feel excited and supported. She loved how the workshops combined learning with hands-on challenges and homework that was checked for progress โ just what she needed to start her tech journey!
โI always found coding fascinating but I never knew itโs an actual career. I always knew I wanted to work in tech after school, but I was not sure what exactly. Upon doing enough and proper research I came across IT and software development. The benefits associated with this industry had me in awe and I then took it upon myself to get startedโ.
