Neda

Meet Neda, a SheCodes graduate from Mashad, Iran where she likes to spend time getting away from it all in the countryside - reading, and meditating. 🇮🇷 📖 With the new coding skills gained through our workshops, Neda was able to land a job as a freelance UX/UI Designer and React developer! 🤩

She has been interested in coding since her university days when she studied Applied Mathematics but originally thought coding was out of reach.

"During my university years, I learned some programming languages. After that, I was fascinated by coding, but at the same time I found it challenging. Thus, I never used coding professionally."

After taking courses in UI/UX design, Neda knew she wanted to be able to convert her new design skills into code herself. It was time to take some coding lessons! She found the SheCodes Foundation and the rest is history. 👩‍💻

"After finishing my masters in Applied Mathematics, I've been working as a part-time university lecturer. I decided to follow my interest and passion which lay in UX design. I was very interested in converting my designs into code and I was eager to become a Front End Developer. So I needed to improve my coding knowledge."

Neda learned about the SheCodes Foundation from her classmates. Once she started learning more about coding, she knew it was the right choice for her. 💜

Learning to code was much easier than Neda thought it would be, which she credits to the SheCodes video lessons, practical challenges, and hands-on projects. She felt supported in her learning by the technical assistants whenever she had a question. The ability to complete the lessons at her own pace whenever she had time was another huge advantage.

"I had a wonderful learning experience with SheCodes. With Matt's tutorials and assistance support, coding was not difficult at all, and I learned it easily. SheCodes teaches front-end skills in an extremely professional way. Students can view classes at any time of the day and from anywhere, making it easier for them to attend."

"The content is easy to understand and is explained step-by-step without requiring knowledge of coding. Any problem students have with homework and projects is handled very skillfully and quickly by the assistants, and students always feel strongly supported."

Neda appreciated the homework, which allowed her to practice everything she had learned during the week. Receiving teacher feedback from her weekend assignments was a big help and let Neda know she was on the right track with her code. 

"Each session ends with a smart and useful assignment for the students. They make the lesson more understandable and the fact that the correct answers can be seen after submitting homework is very valuable. I was pleasantly surprised when I completed my weekend homework, received feedback from my teacher, and received confirmation emails."

Now working as a freelance designer, her daily tasks include improving the user experience for apps and websites.

"Currently, I am working as a freelancer, which gives me a great opportunity to gain more experience and grow in the field."

Now that she has new coding skills, Neda is a stronger member of the team and can better discuss website design with developers. She isn’t done learning and is excited to continue building on the coding knowledge she gained with SheCodes.

"I intend to improve on the coding skills I learned at SheCodes. My motivation for learning coding was to be able to code what I had designed as a UX designer. I want to combine my roles as a UX Designer and Frontend Developer in the future. I will benefit from this knowledge in my job, even if it does not involve coding like now, so I can design better and communicate more effectively with the Front-end development team."

Responsive was her favorite course and ensured Neda that she had chosen the correct industry to follow her passions. She believes that learning a new skill you’re truly interested in makes for a more prosperous society overall, and we couldn't agree more! Education helps all of us follow our dreams. 👩‍🏫

Neda has some helpful advice for beginner coders. She thinks that practice makes perfect and that you can’t forget to let your own personal brand of creativity shine through when coding. ✨

"By practicing the exercises in each section, the material will be better understood. Additionally, doing projects with a bit of creativity and variation will give students a new challenge that will enhance their learning. As a final note, I found it helpful to take notes on what I had just been taught so I could later apply it."
