How Zahra has started her journey to working as a developer through the SheCodes Foundation.
ππ½ββοΈ Before the SheCodes Foundation
Zahra is a motivated student who has recently learned how to code through the SheCodes Foundation. πͺ π» She was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, and is still living there today. She has a Masterβs Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology. Sheβs worked as an Engineering project coordinator and an English Teacher. She still works as an English Teacher at the Iran Language Institute today. Zahra speaks English, French, Persian, and Turkish.Β
In her free time, she enjoys making handy crafts, doing embroidery, reading books, listening to music, watching shows and movies, walking, doing puzzles, and learning new things. So itβs no surprise that she wanted to learn how to code! π©βπ»Β
Zahra first became interested in coding when she was a bachelor student. Due to lack of job opportunities in her field and restrictions sheβs faced, she decided to change her occupation and work towards becoming a developer because of her interest and the amount of good job opportunities available. She then began to learn Python through a local online course and realized that she enjoyed coding and felt very passionate about it. She began searching for other online coding courses to further her coding journey. π₯
π©π½βπ» Her SheCodes Foundation Experience
Zahra tried to learn how to code with a few free online courses, but found that the courses werenβt exactly what she was looking for. She came across SheCodes and thought that it would be the perfect fit for her.
βI tried some local online courses before, but SheCodes was different because it includes lots of details of coding, has a supportive team who help you when your code is not working or youβre confused, includes real projects to do - which makes you handle a lot of challenges, and provides you with certificates.β
Zahra says that her motivation to learn with SheCodes was to enhance her programming skills, learn with a community of female coders, and to build up her resume. π©βπ»
βI was motivated to join SheCodes to enhance my programming skills by participating in classes in which the most recent knowledge is taught. I also wanted to communicate with other women around the world who are into coding as well. It was amazing that I know there are lots of women around the world like me who are following the same goal, and I am not alone in this path. This inspires me to keep on going. I also wanted to possess a verified certification in coding which strengthens my resume to find a job.β
Zahra really enjoyed deepening her coding skills in SheCodes advanced workshops. She also loved the encouragement she received during her journey, learning how to think like a developer, and losing track of time while coding.
βI've been always into learning new things and SheCodes was an incredible experience in my life, I learned a lot about coding and thinking like a developer. My favorite parts were the React and Responsive Workshops. I also enjoyed how Matt encouraged us not to give up when you would face a bug during coding. I spent hours learning how to code - during coding I lost track of time.β
ππ½ββοΈ How the SheCodes Foundation has Helped to Change Her Life
As aforementioned, Zahra decided to change her career path and work in development. But as a beginner, she didnβt know where to begin learning how to code. SheCodes gave her some direction on how to start her coding journey. π
βI love SheCodes and the SheCodes Foundation. Before I knew SheCodes and the SheCodes Foundation I decided to change my job and my major, but I was completely confused I did not know where I had to start. Then SheCodes helped me and gave an insight about my future job.β
For now, Zahra is still working as an English teacher, but sheβs also seeking freelance development work online and interviews with companies in Iran and Europe. Zahra would eventually like to become a senior front-end developer, and we feel confident that she can accomplish this! π She said that SheCodes has helped bring her closer to achieving this goal, and we couldnβt be happier to hear this!

Zahra thinks that itβs worthwhile applying to learn how to code through the SheCodes Foundation because of factors such as the teaching method, real-life projects, a supportive team to help answer questions along the way, and certificates.
