Coding has never been easier and more fun to learn. Simple, self-paced, micro bites of fun videos with hands-on homework make learning html, css, and java script a fun ride. Proud to say that 2020 made me a SheCodes student, and even more proud for having built the very first version of my personal Happiness Life Coaching website - which will hopefully, in the meantime, help lots of girls to boost their happiness and unlock their potential!
SheCodes course is really well-structured and has a very pragmatic approach. In few weeks you get the basis of HTML, CSS and Java and can start building your webpage with professional tools. The videos are short and simple, and straight after each video you have a challenge or an issue to solve and at the end of it you can learn and play with a project you build from scratch. For the whole duration of the course you join the community on Slack, where you can get advice from peers or tech experts. The course developed by Matt definitely went beyond by expectations!
Great coding workshop! I enjoyed the videos, challenges and weekly homework assignments. I liked that I could work/learn at my own pace.

The final course in the series, SheCodes React, was definitely challenging but also fun to complete. Matt's instruction makes learning React easy to understand, and encourages problem solving as the videos won't address every issue in the real world application of the code. Definitely a great learning experience!

I found the course interesting, and really easy to follow along with. I like that the videos are short but really filled with information, and you can revisit them any time you need to.
Learning with SheCodes has been a great experience. Iβve learned a lot more than I expected and have a really great insight into the world of React. Mattβs instructional videos are clear and structured well, I found them easy to follow despite finding some of the coding slightly challenging. JoΓ£o has been awesome helping me debug my code too. I also feel confident knowing that there are multiple ways to code and that not every resource online is going to be useful for me. Iβm looking forward to learning more!
The workshops at SheCodes were super easy to follow for a complete beginner! The way Matt explains how each element functions to create a webpage is comprehendible and the videos are short enough that you can fit them within your work schedule. The challenges were interesting and really give you the hands on experience needed for truly grasping the concepts learned.
This was worth every minute of my free time, to be able to do it myself and then experiment to learn from my own mistakes! Videos were simple and easy to understand and everything provided was very resourceful. I would recommend anyone who is curious as to what coding is like and want to experiment.

I joined the free class and I loved it! It seemed to be built in a more accessible way than other programs. I found that I was able to truly gain a solid coding foundation with SheCodes! Mattβs instruction had documentation, videos and we had all the support needed by using Slack where we could get all of our questions answered. If I had to go back in time and the opportunity to choose from a course to learn to code I would not hesitate in choosing SheCodes again. Both Matt and the team deserve recognition for their great work in creating this course!

I went from knowing literally nothing about coding to being able to create a basic webpage. Everything is very well explained and you are also encouraged to Google things and find solutions on your own which is great for learning. I liked that you could refer back tot he previous videos and lessons at any time. I can't wait to start the next workshop!
This one was really tough... I almost give up because of a few issues (mostly personal) and also I got confused with the last week's videos.... but thanks to Joao I kept going... He was really hopeful
This course is amazing! The videos are easy to follow along and work through but still challenging enough for you to test your own abilities as you learn. The Slack group with other students in it is super helpful when you get stuck staring at your code not sure why it's not working. Another set of eyes can help find those small typos or even offer advice on what you are missing or doing incorrectly.
I love this coding workshop! The videos and lessons are clear and easy to understand. I really like how it is setup. We learn a little bit, then practice, then apply everything learned that week in a larger homework. Then at the end of the course we applied everything we learned into a project. I liked that we got to decide what we wanted to do for the project.

Very well explained videos and useful homeworks. I also appreciate that you are able to push back some deadlines.
Who would have thought that learning the basics of HTML, CSS and Java Script would be so easy and such fun! Granted, there were a few details that it took me a bit of time to get a hang of and in other cases trial and error technique was necessary, but all in all it was a great experience. It did take me more than five hours a week to complete the lessons and homework, though. My average time spent per week was about eight to nine hours. Matt has a great way of making you understand the functionality of coding with humor and creativity. Even though you don't learn in a group the videos make you feel as part of a community. On slack you can get all the help you need from SheCodes employees and other students, giving you the secure feeling that there is always someone there to help if you get stuck. Summa summarum: It was a great experience and I learned a lot in a very short time. Having a better understanding of all the work and functions behind even the simplest website really changed my perspective on my user experience online.
Thank you Matt for supporting us women in coding! It was so much fun learning the fundamentals of CSS, JavaScript and HTML. I liked the videos and the exercises a lot.
So happy I found this course. I have been interested in coding for a few years now, and what better time to learn than a pandemic. I think the hardest part of starting any new skill is not knowing where to begin. SheCodes makes it easy. You receive deadlines, easy submission portals, hands on tutors (and other students), as well as easy to follow along videos. As stated, deadlines are given and encouraged, but because of the pandemic I found myself slipping behind, which was no problem as you're able to submit your work when you can. I also found the fact that the courses are broken up into 3 sections (beginner, moderate, advanced), to help with those who want a beginners course, or are seriously considering SheCodes for a career. I've tried other online courses (such as code academy) but they didn't offer the detail and personalized help that SheCodes provides). I can't wait to continue this skill through the more detailed and longer courses and highly recommend this website to others!
Easy steps to follow and to understand, but a bit more work might have been done on creating these videos.
I had already a bit theoretical background but a while back and so I wanted to use this workshop as kind of kick-off to improve my developing skills. I am really amazed how simple the things are if Matt has explained them. Everything was highly understandable and easy to imitate. I am happy that i discovered SheCodes for starting again to code and I am thankful for all the videos and challenges. The workshops made that I want more of it and i really want to continue.
I really enjoyed this little course, I learned a lot more than I thought and especially it has given me a greater interest in coding. I like how the course is divided into short videos and challenges so it makes it very achievement oriented and keeps you motivated, the time frame is very realistic and the community is lovely. Oh and I love sheCodes Radio!!! I listen to it all the time now, even outside of sheCodes, especially the 'energy station', it is the perfect playlist to work with. I can't wait to do the plus react course in the future!
I had no basic knowledge of coding when I first started, but I've always been interested in learning how to code. Taking online courses can be very hard, especially having to sit and watch a long video; SheCodes is well structured and the videos are clear and easy to understand. Matt is a great teacher; I thought it would be close to impossible to learn the basic concepts of coding online but now I know that it's actually possible.
I've thoroughly enjoyed this workshop - Matt's teaching style is super clear and being able to play the videos on demand or rewind to parts you want to see again is really helpful. I had a little HTML knowledge from a long time ago, this workshop has really helped me refresh that and learn a lot of new things too. I would recommend it even if you know a little HTML/CSS as you will learn a lot more throughout the course.
This was my first course on Application development, the ability to learn with Matt and review the videos, facilitated a great way to move at my own pace. I would recommend this for anyone who want to learn application development.
It's incredible how much I've learned in such a short amount of time and at my own pace. As a visual learner, being able to go back and rewatch videos or look at source code was extremely helpful.
I loved the experience of going from just some basic HTML knowledge to being able to build a pretty good looking page with some interactivity in under three weeks! The videos are clear and the challenges make the lesson stick. I also love that you can pace yourself however you want as you move through the videos.
I recommend SheCodes coding course for beginners to anyone who wants to get started with programming or just to get some basic knowledge about htms, css & javascript. The structure of the course was captivating. I liked that the instructional videos were short and specific, and were followed by tasks about what was learned in the videos. At the end of each week there was a more complex homework, that required a little longer focus and putting together what was learned throughout the week. It was so much fun to get a first impression of coding with the 3 weeks beginners workshop! The videos are super easy to follow and the project in the end is very rewarding, as you can try out your skills on a topic that interests you. I will definitely recommend it to my friends! React App is a little difficult to understand and navigate through but everyone has been extremely helpful. The videos walk you through 99% of the basics needed and rest, just ask on slack and someone will always be there to help you out when you get stuck. It was a little frustrating but overall, a great experience! I would love to learn back-end development from them if it ever comes out!

I found SheCodes React very challenging. But with the help of the SheCodes instructional videos and numerous online forums, I was able to make the Weather App using React. I highly recommend SheCodes.
I found SheCodes Plus to be a great course. It's a similar set out to SheCodes Workshop, just with a bit more content! Thanks so much again to Matt for the brilliant, straight-to-the-point videos that continue to inspire me to learn more, and to Joao and Daniella for their amazingly consistent support on the Slack chat.
It was a very difficult and challenging time, but the SheCodes Plus Workshop course pushed me more than ever before to keep going and to not give up in my coding journey. In several weeks I was able to learn so much more about vanilla JavaScript with the supportive team at SheCodes than I could ever have done learning just by myself. Even though my final weather app project is quite basic, I tried my hardest and best with what I could manage now, and again I'm so very glad and thankful I didn't give up. I especially love the fact that we will always have access to course materials, videos, and the Slack group even after graduating the workshop, so I am going to look over the course again and again to solidify my knowledge. I look forward to improving my skills greatly in the next workshop (SheCodes Plus React)!
I really liked the short videos in which Matt explains and demonstrates how to implement CSS or write JavaScript. All material is summarized in a way I was able to understand also more complex code. I will recommend the workshop to my friends!

It was helpful to be able to go back to the videos to understand how to do each exercise and homework. In the first week of the workshop I was frazzled with understanding the concepts. I've always been interested in learning programming. A few years ago, I even tried studying computer science at university, however, I didn't like it at all because it was mainly focusing on the theory of it and not really on programming itself :( SheCodes on the other hand was so much fun!! Matt is a really nice and fun teacher. His videos are never boring and you always get to learn so many new things. I'm really, really glad I found an ad for SheCodes on Instagram, otherwise my interest for programming would have been gone forever.
My favorite part of the SheCodes workshop was learning by doing, especially with the final project - you get to actively understand what you are doing, not just passively watch coding videos. It was lot of fun, I can highly recommend this format! SheCodes is a great initiative and I highly recommend it.

The SheCodes Online Workshop is a great introductory course for anyone who has zero to basic knowledge to coding. This course is very suitable for self-paced learners, and the lessons are delivered clearly through the videos - great that we have access to these whenever we need them. The Slack platform is also very helpful to anyone who has questions and need some help.

SheCodes will teach you how to build an app, in 8 weeks, which is amazing but requires to commit to it!! It is hard and frustrating at times but once you get it right, it feels great! I probably have to re-watch a bunch of the videos, just to make sure I get it. I'm very happy with this program and hope I can pursue in that field.
I love SheCodes! I decided to take the SheCodes workshops during Quarantine, and it has been a great way to grow my knowledge of coding and have something productive to do with all of my extra free time indoors. I would HIGHLY recommend these workshops to anyone who has wanted to learn more about coding, the videos are easy to follow, and the homework and projects are easy to complete. No deadline will make you feel overwhelmed, and the Slack communities they have created are all welcoming. All of the women in the slack communities want you to succeed. At times, I found the course quite challenging but I was determined to not ask for help and find out the solution on my own. It is so rewarding with being able to do it correctly! The homework and final project that was set was fun as well I'm hoping to be able to continue onto SheCodes Plus soon!
Three weeks flew by, that's how much fun I was having coding. I truly enjoyed every minute of this workshop, many thanks to the overly supportive employees as well. Matt's videos are so easy to follow, he breaks them down into 8-12 minute short videos and then you get to practice with a challenge. The best part is that each wee challenge had something new that you have to figure out on your own. It's so incredible how this workshop can highlight your capabilities. The feeling you get when your code works is addicting. This is my first time coding, and I can't wait for the second chapter with SheCodes.
I have tried a few of these online workshops, but I have to say that this one is the best I tried. Everything is explained properly and throughly and easy to understand. The little exercices are a great way of learning new skills. Even though some of the things here were new to me, the videos helped me to understand everything. I would highly recommend this to everyone who want to start to learn coding.
The SheCodes workshop was my first experience with coding. I really liked the structure of the workshop - divided into smaller sections with short videos it was easier for me to understand and learn all the content. I started the workshop out of curiosity and will now continue with Plus React! I know this will be a challenge, but I'm motivated to learn more and expand my skills π

I've absolutely loved this course and highly recommend it. The key thing for me is how Matt teaches you the 'tricks of the trade' as he goes and shows you how real coders do it, not just teaching you the code in isolation of the real world. I've found Matt really easy to follow, pace is perfect, and I've been shocked at how much I have learnt in just 10 hours! I was skeptical of an online course (as I struggle to keep motivated usually) but the videos are short and manageable, and there are fun challenges after each one, with instant solutions. It's very inspiring and the tools and community are excellent too - if you need help, it's there 24/7. Can't wait to move on to the 4 month course!
SheCodes Workshop was a great intro to coding. As a full time mom to a toddler, and working a full time+ job, I don't have a ton of free time. The SheCodes time frame allowed me to work a little bit each day to complete the challenges and homework, which I really appreciated! I loved the structure of the short videos, which allowed me to absorb the content and build on what I learned in the previous videos. The slack channel was a big help as well when I would get stuck on something. In the end, I am proud of my work and what i've learned in the intro class, and look forward to continuing on with my coding journey! Thanks SheCodes :)
When I was starting the workshops I knew absolutely nothing about programming and I was not sure if the course won't be too hard for me. This uncertainty disappeared with the first Matt's video. Everything is clearly explained in little steps and you can always get back to the videos so there's no way you can get lost, when something was unclear I could always get help on Slack. This workshop was a great introduction to coding and it inspired me to learn and explore even more about it.

I am EXTREMELY happy and proud that I completed SheCodes Plus. Once I took the SheCodes intro course I knew I needed to continue to SheCodes PLus. With my job, my school work, and Shecodes lessons I had a lot on my plate. But with the extra help from the SheCodes tutors and Matts excellently videos it made it exciting and helpful to learn. This was challenging for me because I was still new to the coding world. Now, I feel much more confident to continue and my education in coding. My goal would be to make this into a future career. In this digital age and with the rise of advanced technologies and automation, the tech industry is really a place for a myriad of job opportunities. I recognised this and I've always been intrigued to learn the official coding and programming languages however I never had the opportunity nor any clue which platforms to choose from. Then, I came across SheCodes. I joined SheCodes because I truly resonate with its message and goals. I was impressed that a company is taking the initiative to tackle a global issue in the technological industry. Furthermore, the credibility and reliability of its CEO & Founder plus the recognition from various notable companies really did it for me. I've always dreamed of working for some of the companies mentioned. Thus, I knew I had to join SheCodes. Next, the 100% online SheCodes workshop. It has bite-sized videos with mini exercises for each lesson which encourages students to take initiative and be pro-active in their learning. One can also do it at their own time and convenience within the stipulated workshop duration. If one needs any assistance, tech support on Slack and even experienced students are more than welcome to help. I learnt a lot and appreciate the positive learning environment. As a busy full-time undergraduate and part-time HR personnel exposed to learning and development, I approved of this and recognised that such methods are the future of learning. I'm so glad I found SheCodes! Out of all the other online courses and videos I've watched on how to code for beginners, SheCodes has definitely helped me the most! I was able to understand how things are implemented, what works and what doesn't. The online videos are so easy to follow along, and I was learning at a nice pace so there was no rush. My only regret is not finding out about it earlier.

I was always interested in learning how to code, but never thought that I would get the chance. When I first came upon a SheCodes ad, I was immediately intrigued; and when my employer asked me to attend further training during my short-term work, I jumped at the opportunity β and never regretted it. Being totally absorbed in the learning videos and corresponding challenges, hours pass without me realising it. I immensely enjoy putting what I just learned into action and canβt believe how far Iβve already come in such a short period of time. Coding can be challenging, but it is also a lot of fun and extremely rewarding. If you are unsure whether you should sign up for one of the workshops, do it! I'm sure you won't be disappointed! π
SheCodes Plus is incredibly rewarding, even with some of its difficult moments. Just like in SheCodes Workshop, Matt continues to break down complex concepts in simple and straightforward lessons. The modules are designed with challenges and assignments that make you apply what you have just learned right away. If anything is ever unclear, there is always Matt's solution videos or wonderful JoΓ£o on Slack to help you! I look forward to learning React in the next workshop!
The learning curve in this workshop was incredible! No question left unanswered thanks to the lovely post challenge solution videos, which are always reassuring after some of the most challenging moments. Feels unreal to have coded all this project when a few weeks ago i had no clue about anything. There are still some areas I would like to improve in my projects but thanks to this workshop I actually feel capable of doing so!
SheCodes lessons are so easy to digest, and the information is delivered in bite-sized videos with challenges after each lesson. The support via Slack is second to none, and we were connected with experts every step of the way. I'm so impressed with all that I've been able to pick up in three short weeks and excited to continue my coding journey.
I never taught I could even learn coding! But Shescodes and MattΒ΄s detailed lessons are so good that it becomes any easy task. I loved that the videos are all very shorts, and give you the opportunity to practice what you just learned right away. It has been a great workshop and IΒ΄m definitely in for the Shecodes Plus. Trust me, coding is FUN!
I've had so many "false starts" learning how to code from various different sources and eventually came to the conclusion I just couldn't do it. SheCodes changed that! The clear, bite-size instruction videos, example code snippets, challenges and homework tasks are such a great way to see progress and make it all feel manageable and achievable. Now I feel I have a solid foundation to build upon and I'm excited to see where I go from here. Thank you SheCodes!
I really enjoyed this react workshop Matt was so explain in the videos and also I received a lot of help from Joao. I've never made a project like I made here, I also learned pretty much.

I chose 3 out of 5 for this product for a few different reasons. Some of the reasons I will list have a positive and a negative side to them. I am continuing on to complete the Plus and React courses as well, but the Workshop has set the tone for me in regards to expectations from SheCodes. POSITIVES: (1) SheCodes will help me reach a decent skill level in coding languages and software that are brand new to me. (2) The instructor provides good resources for you to further your knowledge [on your own]. (3) You can learn most of this information for FREE online, but the key to SheCodes is the packaging. You would have a difficult time finding a similar course that includes infrastructure, support and accountability. In my opinion, that is where SheCodes SHINES and is the primary benefit of learning code through this platform. NEGATIVES: (1) While the instructor points you in the right direction to helpful resources, I feel that SheCodes should also provide reference materials within the program (material created by SheCodes). The documentation for each lesson is helpful but it is inconvenient to hunt down, for example, how to properly code an event listener in JavaScript after I have moved on from that lesson. Also, the documentation for topics were introduced too early or too late. There were a few times where I remember watching the video then viewing the documentation and seeing concepts that had yet to be discussed in the videos - which also makes it harder to hunt down documentation later on while working on the project. (2) In the same vein, I also wish that there was actual documentation. The documentation included are examples at best, but I feel with the cost of the program, there should be accompanying text. Personally, I grasp concepts so much better when I can read something through. I understand you learn code by doing it, but I should have the option to read and understand why, for example, I have to change an image display to block if I want to center it on the webpage. The instructor videos VERY LIGHTLY scratch the surface of each language, and I feel that I deserve WAY more out of SheCodes for the cost. I still have 2 more sessions of SheCodes so maybe I will find more value along the way. CONCLUSION: SheCodes has good packaging but it only gets 3 stars from me, because I will still have to find and/or create my own reference materials to retain the skills I've learned. I am continuing on to SheCodes Plus then React, so I am excited to keep learning (especially so quickly)! However, I fear this will only amount to three INTRODUCTORY courses that I overpaid for.
This was amazing! Matt's videos guided me through every step, and getting feedback through the Slack app was almost instant. It was especially great to get help from other women on the course, who were always ready to lend a hand and offer solutions when I was stuck. Overall I would recommend this to anyone, you don't need any prior knowledge at all. As an English student I thought coding would always be outside of my skillset; if I can do it, anyone can!
