I am an Afghan girl who loves coding. When I found the "she codes" program, it changed my life. "she codes" taught me coding skills through classes and support from teachers. Before this, coding was very difficult for me. But the teachers at "she codes" helped me learn step-by-step. Now I have good coding skills and confidence to work in technology. "she codes" also connected me with other Afghan girls who love coding. This program has given me the chance to do what I love, even as a girl in Afghanistan. I am very grateful for "she codes" and all it has done for me.

It was very interesting learning since this is my very first time of learning python consistently. Great explanations from Matt which was very practical in finishing the last project. Also several homework that have been given in almost every lesson were very helpful in keeping you in track with the deadline. I have always been interested in tech engineering and the coding world since I was a child. When I first heard about it, I thought it was unattainable as I only saw white men in that industry. As I grew up, my aunt, who went into the data engineering industry, inspired me. I realized that as a black child, I could also be in that industry. For the love of STEM, I started my mechanical engineering degree at the esteemed University of the Witwatersrand. I was very excited because I got to keep the science in my engineering. We were introduced to Python, and I enjoyed the journey as I could build interesting stuff from scratch. Turning nothing into something big gave me joy. Then I was introduced to MATLAB, which I took with me into my second year. I found it to be stressful as it was rushed, and there were always deadlines to meet. This made me understand things late as I would be rushing to finish my work along with other modules. My aunt told me about SheCodes, and I decided to try it out. It was scary at first as I was hearing things I didn’t know. I enjoyed learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I loved the way everything was explained, and I could have a 100% understanding of the concepts while also being challenged. I loved that it was self-paced, so I didn’t have to stress about it and could do it at my own pace. I’m excited to learn more, but what I can say is SheCodes is amazing.
This course was a great help for me to be able to find my interest and to gain more confidence in myself and my capabilities by seeing this big and beautiful community. Learning React and creating a weather forecast app has been an exciting and enjoyable journey, although at times it was challenging. The way React allows you to structure your code through components made the development process smoother and more intuitive. I found it fascinating that I could achieve responsiveness without needing to use media queries, thanks to React’s dynamic rendering capabilities. This made the app adaptable to different screen sizes naturally, enhancing the overall user experience. Working with React not only helped me write cleaner, more organised code but also gave me the tools to bring my ideas to life in a more efficient and satisfying way. Each challenge I faced taught me something new, making the process of learning React both satisfying and fulfilling.

I really enjoyed learning how to code. I started with practically zero knowledge. I'd heard of the various languages but didn't know much beyond that but I was curious to find out more about the coding world. I found the video lessons easy to follow and liked the fact that I could go back to them as and when I needed. At times I felt a little overwhelmed but when that was the case I took a break and watched the lessons again. Now I have basic knowledge of Javascript, CSS and HTML. I'd highly recommend the Basics course to anyone who is curious to learn more about coding.

The SheCodes Basics workshop was really exciting yet challenging. It was split into smaller parts so that a beginner like me in coding would not be overwhelmed with learning everything at the same time. By far the most challenging of all the languages so far! Javascript has at times been really difficult, but has been a huge learning curve and a good challenge. Thoroughly enjoyed this section of learning and expanding on my own knowledge.
After teaching myself how to create a website using WordPress and Divi, I discovered that I really enjoyed it and was eager to learn more, possibly even making it my profession. I then started looking for a suitable course that I could follow from home. I quickly came across SheCodes, and it immediately appealed to me. After comparing SheCodes with other providers, SheCodes stood out to me in terms of offerings, reviews, and quality. I took the free coding class and was quickly convinced because Matt explains everything in a very pleasant and easy-to-understand way. He is very enjoyable to listen to, not monotonous at all like I found with other courses. Even if you know nothing about coding, you will understand it through his way of explaining. I am a mother of a 10-year-old gifted son who is homeschooled because regular education often does not suit gifted children. So, even as a stay-at-home mom, you can follow this course, in your own time and at your own pace. Therefore, I can recommend it to any woman and mother who is interested in coding.
