When I was informed there would be a new SheCodes Responsive class, I remember I was already ready to take 5 week-long-course. While adjusting the curriculum with my own pace of learning, I challenged myself to finish the weekly homework earlier than the deadline. It was not easy to secure my spare time. after my full time work. By fully utilizing my early morning time before my work and minimizing my social and fun activities for my future, I was able to create the project about Climate Change successfully. Like other courses that I took, the learning journey with Matt, Joao, and other support staffs was not always smooth to carry on but definitely worthy to try again and again (but never give up). Like a quote "Your strength is your own knowledge." I would love to show my greatest appreciation to SheCodes as I believe I became intellectually stronger than before. Responsive course has taught me that we would need to consider the end users when developing any products. Nowadays, people would. check the information via mobile web and it is crucial for developers to make sure that the. webpages would be responsive and SEO friendly. I decided to start this coding journey out of curiosity, ended up learning a lot! The teaching method was great, along with all the tips to find additional resources. Signing up for the SheCodes Plus workshop is probably the best decision I've made this year. After a free lesson with Matt, I knew I had to try it. The first workshops were wonderful. I immediately got into it. But SheCodes Plus made me feel really confident with my skills and I developed amazingly. Creating a weather app was very difficult at times, but I had so much fun doing it! I would recommend them to anyone, especially one who claims that coding is not for her. You never know!

Matt is very good at explaining complex things into simple steps. It helps me quickly understand the connections between HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I built the website with Wix and WordPress before, but after this workshop, I am excited to build one with Javascript.
I enjoyed my entire experience with shecodes! Matt manages to make everything easy to understand. The challenges help us to understand everything even better. Slack is a friendly google with the answers to our doubts within the shecodes team or with our colleagues. The way shecodes works make sense, and I feel that I learned.

Finally! I completed it in 8 weeks! Due to moving house+workloads+sick, I was "dragging" the lesson/homework around 2weeks. Luckily Matt's lessons are detailed and easy to follow up, and also thanks to JoΓ£o for helping me point out the error that I have made. (basic structure but you know sometimes you will miss it). Now I super excited to move to the next level React!

SheCodes is amazing! I've completed a few other "beginner" courses online but Matt is the only instructor out there who actually focuses on the basics and doesn't try to teach too many new concepts in one go. I feel like I finally understand basic Javascript which has been a huge struggle for me in the past. Can't wait to learn more in SheCodes Plus!

I took this course to open up good coding logic and practice to move on to other languages. Overall this taster was great value for money and I learned a lot in 3 weeks, Matt is a great teacher and the short lessons and regular homework to apply your knowledge to are paced really well for a beginner. If I wanted to move into front end dev I would take the more advanced workshops in a hot minute!

When I completed SheCodes' other offerings, I promised I'd be first in line to sign up if a new course was ever launched. So, of course I jumped at the chance to be an early participant in the new Responsive Design program! Not only did Matt's instructions help me reinforce my previous knowledge of HTML and CSS, but with Matt and JoΓ£o's guidance I learned out to built an attractive multipage website that is optimized for multiple devices and screen sizes. I learned so much practical knowledge, and the final project was a blast! I can't wait to continue my responsive design practice and promising now yet again that if another SheCodes class becomes available, I will be first to sign up!

A fascinating and brilliantly put together course, I can't say enough good things about this sequence of courses. I am a fashion designer and I decided to change my career after getting introduced to Web Development via research and acquaintances. I find myself in an entry-level position in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript5. I have learned a lot of design patterns and principles that helped me to apply coding on my daily basis and it will be easier for me to get deeper into programming language after that. I am very glad that I got knowledge of coding languages through SheCodes. After working in retail for many years, my husband and I were in a car accident that left him permanently disabled. When life deals a bad hand, there aren't a lot of options but to push harder or give up. I decided to push harder and changed careers. I needed something that could provide for us and our young son. But I didn't have a degree. So, I began pursuing IT certifications. I passed the A+ and landed a job at a Helpdesk. I've been there for about 18 months and am now pursuing a degree in Cyber Security. However, the leap from Helpdesk to Security is impossible without experience, certifications, and degrees. I started working with sites to learn ethical hacking, but they required coding experience, which I did not have -- dead end. While studying for the Security+, I saw an ad for SheCodes on YouTube. It sounded too good to be true, so I did some digging. Sure enough, it was legit and had awesome ratings! Then, I nervously asked my husband, "Do you mind if I pay for an online coding class that may or may be a scam??" haha And he said yes! That leads me to now! I just finished the final project and feel SO much more confident. I have programming classes required for my major, which I start next week, and now I'm prepared to take them on. I have even gone so far as to reach out and start networking with jobs in app development, system operations, and internal security. If there is someone out there who isn't sure, I would say this: Grab life by the reins and MAKE IT HAPPEN! SheCodes is a perfect place to start! Matt is an excellent teacher, and the structure is well laid out and very easy to learn. Go out there and get it, girl, because you deserve this!

I am extremely satisfied with this workshop! Coding can be very intimidating for absolute beginners but through Matt's great pedagogy and clarity (said from a teacher :p), short but efficient lessons, and regular practice, it is quite mind blowing what one can do within just three weeks of learning! All the new notions are broken down into single blocks of learning to grasp the essential meanings, demonstrated in videos with explanations and documentation too. We then get familiar with these new notions to finally apply them into various tasks. It is a very progressive and fun process. Thank you so much. I am very much looking forward to the next training!

This is the perfect course for beginner coders. Learning the basics takes time and patience and I felt really supported by Matt's tutorials, the Slack group and trusty ol' Google. I could fit it around my working schedule and it gave me a small sense of achievement each time I passed a lesson. It has gotten me excited to see what else I can learn in coding and what the possibilities are.
Some tricky and challenging coding, but Matt does a good job of explaining and walking through examples. Really enjoyed adding real live data into the app - feels a bit like a Frankenstein moment - and great to learn the workflow, not just the granular detail of the coding.

As a single mother of 2 small children, I cannot rave enough about this workshop. For quite some time I had been wanting to do something different as a career that could really allow me to provide for my daughters. I've always been interested in STEM and with my background as a Science and Math teacher...I was so excited when the most beautiful Godsend appeared on my YouTube recommendation about SheCodes. At first I thought "What is this?" then I clicked and it was amazing to think that in a short clip I found myself wanting to join. I worried that as a single mom juggling kids, homeschool, and play time that there would be NO WAY I could do this and not fall behind but after back and forth emails with Matt I was reassured that I COULD DO IT and that was the moment I took the plunge. I attended the free workshop and as an artsy attention to detail kind of person, watching Matt really allowed me to see myself doing this and becoming passionate about it. I set out on a mission to start and finish and made sure to do so throughout the course of these 3 weeks and I can honestly say that I am so proud of all the knowledge I've gained, so proud of myself and being able to say that I didn't allow anything to stop me from working hard, completing challenges and submitting homework on time. SheCodes Plus is a good workshop for beginners. In this course you will get the understanding of the concept, structure, development, bug fixing and deployment of an application. Matt teaches you the basics to build a functional app.
I love the fact that Matt provides solutions and allows room for other possible ones. I love the team work in Shecodes and they go out of their way to try solve the issues we bring on board. JS is pretty challenging, but all of a sudden - it just clicks! Matt runs through an entire project from start to finish in week 6 of SheCodesPlus - which is amazing as everything you've learned previously is all put together with a better understanding as you've been using each section bit by bit. SheCodes is one of the best beginner coding courses I've taken. Matt is a great instructor - his ability to breakdown the coding language concepts into easily digestible, bite-sized lessons, made learning fun and enjoyable. Everything was so clear and the lessons build on each other really well. This class showed me that coding doesn't have to be intimidating and confusing!

Really enjoyed the first part! Finished in a week and a bit, because was too excited to learn haha I've signed up for Pro, so can't wait to start the rest of the course :) Thank you, Matt and his team for such a great workshop.
The big difference between SheCodes and the rest of the courses is that you have real people behind helping you and always looking forward to teaching you. In the end, you are really living the "happy coding" as Matt always saids.

This coding workshop was super fun, I learned so much during these 3 weeks and Matt is a great instructor! Everything was easy to understand, and all the assignments were challenging and interesting.
SheCodes Plus was an adventure! Sometimes it was quite challenging, but it provided great opportunities for growth - on both professional and personal level. Matt explained every task in detail, so it was easy to understand. And luckily, JoΓ£o was always there to help, when I got stuck. I really enjoyed every aspect of this course! βοΈ
