what is the difference between css and scss
CSS is a styling language, while SCSS is a preprocessor scripting language that is compiled into CSS. Essentially, SCSS includes additional features that aren't available in CSS by default, such as variables, nesting, and functions. These features make it easier to write and manage CSS code for larger projects. The resulting compiled CSS code is the same as if it had been written in CSS directly. Here's an example of a variable declaration in SCSS:

why is my font using rem and not updating
Your font size may not be updating since you are using rem units instead of px units. rem units are based on the root element's (most commonly the <html> element) font size; using rem ensures that the element will automatically scale up or down relative to the <html> element. If your font size is not updating, you may need to edit the <html> element's font size. Depending on which stylesheet language you are using, you may need to use:
font-size: 16px;
html { font-size: 16px; }
@html-font-size: 16px;
