“I'm having more fun than I ever thought imaginable!”

“This was a tough year for me. I had a serious injury and struggled to find employment. Although I finished my MFA in Creative Writing, despite my injury, I couldn't find a job that would pay me a living wage. I started thinking that I needed to do something else. I did not expect to enjoy coding as much as I do. I thought it was going to be this job that I could learn and slog through. After three weeks, I am a bit obsessed. Don't get me wrong, it is a challenge. Sometimes I stare at a bit of code for 20 minutes and say "why won't you work?" But when I solve that puzzle, refresh the page, and everything works like it's supposed to, it gives me such a feeling of accomplishment. I was a little nervous because I am not a maths person, and I can barely draw a stick figure, but it turns out that a little imagination goes a long way. There were a lot of course options I could have chosen from. I went with SheCodes because I saw that I would get trained in a lot of different programming languages. It also was flexible and I was able to start right away. I'm signed up for the Plus, but I'm already planning on upgrading to the bootcamp when I'm done.”
