FAQs

It was a long running Australian television block, that aired every Saturday morning from January 27, 1990 to September 24, 2016. The television block consisted of mainly Disney tv series, amongst hosted content.
It was originally proposed to be the Australian edition of the international franchise, The Disney Club. The producers convinced Dinsey to allow them to use Saturday Disney as the title to aviod confusion with The Mickey Mouse Club. The show had 3 hosts, consisting of 2 female and 1 male. It was originally filmed in Brisbane, but moved to Sydney. The show was filmed in Disneyland several time. Most notably for its 1,000th show on 5th of September, 2009.

At first, the show aired Disney animated series, airing live action series afterwards, which started with the live action series Hannah Montana. What started out as a 2 hour program airing 3 programs, became a 3 hour airing 5 programs, from 2012 to 2016. With its final episode on September 24, 2016. In total 1,366 episodes. It would air from 6am-7am on Channel 7, then 7am-9am on 7FLIX. Additionaly, each week there was a Letter of the Week, where winners would have a chance to win prizes.
The original presenters were Jeniene Mapp, James Sherry and Sofie Formica. The final presenters were Nathan Morgan, Candice Dixon and Teigan Nash.
Hannah Montana, I Didn't Do It, Austin & Ally, Dog with a Blog, Good Luck Charie (absolute fav), Shake It Up, Jessie, Pair of Kings, Mighty Med, Jonas L.A. and Sonny with a Chance.
Each Saturday they would have Letter of the Week, were if you sent in a letter, drawing or art piece you would be in the chance to win prizes. I sent in my Disgust doll and they called me a month later saying I won and my work would be aired in the coming weeks. They also had to confirm with my mum that I did in fact make the doll!
A little story time... I was in Grade 7 (13 yrs) and I arrived home one afternoon off the bus. Next thing I realised when I walked in the door was 3 large boxes in our living room. It was like Christmas Day! Inside were a bunch of toys. I gave my sisters each a gaint Dinsey Character. You might not care, but what did I do with the toys? I sold them hehe.
It is my greatest achievement because at a young age I believed in myself that no matter what I was going to make this doll and give it my best chance to win. Prior to the doll submission, I did try create Mickey Mouses out of paper and sticky tape. I remember sitting on the floor of my bedroom and ending up with some cuts. But this was me trying to find something I could make to get in the draw for Letter of the Week.

I remember younger Elina, saying to her mum once she suggested practice crocheting a Mickey Mouse toy. I was determined to make the doll straight away and that even if I had to mail it myself I would. I am happy with my determination and desire to take a risk to see if it would pay off. I don't have a greater achievement than this one that began them all, and all the ones to come. I loved coding this webpage, becuase it's allowed me to reflect on how far I have come but also remembering my childhood memories of waking up 6am every Saturday, enjoying a good show.
