The Practice of Yoga

After practicing for a couple of years, I realized how enriching the practice of yoga has been on my quality of life. It was then, I knew I wanted to become a yoga instructor, I sought after the knowledge needed to introduce and guide more people through this practice. After receiving my 200 hour yoga certification, I decided to continue my education by attending a 50 hour yoga trapeze training in Barcelona, Spain. I can now confidently guide and educate folks on the benefits of this enriching practice.

The eight limbs of yoga are Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyhara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. Here, we will discuss yoga asana. Yoga means oneness and it's no secret that yoga is practiced for multiple reasons across many, if not all, cultures. Yoga asana, that is, the physical practice of yoga or as I refer to it, 'mat based yoga' is the practice of integrating conscious breath with movoment. Conscious breathing is a meditative practice and movement is good for the body and mind, by consciously collaborating these two practices on a consistent basis, one may start to see the following benefits - stress alleviation, improves mental clarity and mental health, improves mobility and flexibility, increases stength, reduces anxiety, improves balance, and improves overall quality of life.
