Sri Lanka is the teardrop in the Indian Ocean, lying south-west of India
and north-east of the Maldives Islands. It is a beautiful tropical country
with a rich cultural heritage. Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon was
colonised by the Dutch and English, finally gaining its independence in
19748. Sri Lanka's recent history has been blighted by a 26 year-long
civil war which came to an end in 2009. Sri Lanka has gained popularily as
an ideal holiday destination and was awarded
top country for travel in 2019 by Lonely Planet. It's not
surprising with beautiful empty beaches and a full range of activities
such as surfing, hiking and rafting to name just a few. Taking a
