Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game released in February,
2019. It was developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by
Electronic Arts, and is available on PC, Playstation and Xbox One, as well
as a mobile version that was released in May 2022.
It currently features 21 different playable characters, or "Legends",
which all have distinctive and unique abilities. The Battle Royale mode
features multiple three-player or two-player squads fighting it out over a
shrinking zone on one of its huge island maps. The last ones standing are
declared the Apex Champions of the match.
The Arenas mode is a team deathmatch where two three-player squads battle
it out over multiple rounds to declare the winner. There is also a
competitive ranking system for both the Arenas and Battle Royale
gamemodes, as well as limited time gamemodes and special events which add
variety and entice new players.
The game has been widely praised for its responsive gunplay, fast yet
smooth movement, intuitive communication system and charismatic
characters.
Since its release in 2019, it has amassed over 100 million players
worldwide and is one of the most played video games of all time.
It is clear Apex Legends is here to stay.
