Naoshima is an island in the Seto Inland Sea that is known for its
modern art museums, architecture and sculptures. Part of Kagawa
Prefecture, the island with its Mediterranean atmosphere, sandy
beaches and sunny weather, combined with a laid back, rural feel is a
relaxing getaway from Japan's large urban areas such as Tokyo and
Osaka.
Asakusa district
Asakusa is one of Tokyo's most famous districts, where an atmosphere
of the Tokyo of past decades survives. Asakusa's main attraction is
Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The
temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been
providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks
and tourist souvenirs for centuries.
Kanazawa
Kanazawa, the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture, is a quiet city that
boasts with historical attractions and modern museums. During the Edo
Period, Kanazawa served as the seat of the Maeda Clan, the second most
powerful feudal clan after the Tokugawa in terms of rice production
and fief size. Accordingly, Kanazawa grew to become a town of great
cultural achievements, rivaling Kyoto and Tokyo.
