BRIDGERTON
American historical-romance streaming television series based on Julia Quinn's collection of novels.
The Bridgertons is an American historical drama television series
created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes. The series is
based on a series of novels by Julia Quinn set during the Regency
seasons of London's high society, when the season's debutantes are
presented at court. This is the first series by Shonda Rhimes written
for Netflix. The first season premiered on Netflix on December 25, 2020.
The eight episodes of the first season were met with positive reviews
from critics and viewers. At the time of release, the project became the
most watched Netflix series with an audience of 82 million households,
currently remaining the second most watched series on the streaming
service. The second season was released on Netflix on March 25, 2022:
eight new episodes reached the first positions of the Netflix top charts
in 92 countries and were watched over 193 million hours, which was a
record for all English-language series of the service in the first 3
days of release; in the second week after the release, the number of
views was 251.7 million hours, which again became an absolute record. In
April 2021, series creator Chris Van Dusen announced that the series had
also been renewed for a third and fourth season.
