Garden Birds
Every day, I look out of my kitchen window at the various birds that visit my
garden.
I love to see how they interact with each other, eating the food and
raising their young.
Living in the north of Scotland, these are the most common birds that
I see on a daily basis.

Blackbird
The blackbird is a member of the trush family and is a renowned songbird. The first blackbird song of the year can usually be heard at the end of January or early February
Males are
black with a yellow beak. Females are brown. Young blackbirds are
brown with a speckled appearance.
On average, blackbirds live to be
2.4 years old, but some have been found to be 20 years old.
Chaffinch
The chaffinch is one of the most abundant birds in
Britain. There are estimated to be 6.2 million breeding pairs of
birds here.
Chaffinches form small flocks and live in harmony. A flock of chaffinches is also known as a 'charm' of chaffinches.
Depending on their diet and habitat, a chaffinch can live for between 3 and 15 years.
Robin
The robin is the UK's favourite bird.Males
and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and
are spotted with golden brown.
Males are noted for their highly aggressive territorial behaviour.
A robin's diet usually consists of insects, in Autumn and Winter it
may supplement this with seeds, berries and fruit.
