Montreaux Jazz Festival is one of the world's biggest and longest-running jazz festivals, held each summer on the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland. More than 50 years on from the first edition, Montreux has become iconic in the festival world as somewhere that not only showcases eminent, generation-spanning jazz talent but also hugely important and influential figures from a vast array of other genres. The legacy and standing of the event is more-or-less unmatched by any other, with countless artists choosing their Montreux shows to be recorded for live albums, and each edition attracting more than 200,000 visitors across the two week programme of shows.
