No more than a week after Mardi Gras of 2020, New Orleans had become a hot bed for the mysterious sickness that we now know as Covid-19. At the time, I was working as a seamstress in a shop called Tchoup Industries, where we built water resistant bags and accessories for travel and outdoor use. As part of this handful of extremely kind and resourceful women, we worked together to design face masks for every walk of life, and were able to distribute them to thousands of residents, service workers and medical professionals.
