Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are the only spaniel that belongs to the "toy" classification of dogs. They have a small size, long, fluffy tails, and classic spaniel ears. There are 4 recognized color groups among them:
Historically, these dogs have been a favorite of nobility and royalty; Mary, Queen of Scots, Queen Victoria, and Princess Margaret are just some examples of royalty who owned a cavalier.
Cavalier King Charles spaniels are typically friendly, playful, and affectionate. Although they can be "lap dogs," it is important to remember that cavaliers are also descended from sporting dogs, so they love to play and run. Still, they do usually love to cuddle with their owners, and do best when they are not left alone for long. These dogs make great companions!
