Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf Museum in the Oppenheim Villa
History of culture and daily life in the Berlin district
Since January 2012, the museum is housed in the Oppenheim Villa. The prestigious villa, built in 1881, was for several decades the summer residence for members of the families Mendelssohn and Oppenheim.
The main emphasis of the museum is the permanent exhibition “WESTEN!” focused on the borough’s history which is represented in objects but also in films and multimedia. There are also special temporary exhibitions committed to topics and people of regional and cultural history. A second highlight is the historical Art Collection of the once independent city of Charlottenburg, with paintings and sculptures mostly from the 19th and beginning 20th century.
