Patron - symbol of Ukrainian Bravery

About Patron

Patron has primarily served for Ukraine during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine , and he has rapidly become a symbol of Ukrainian Bravery. Patron is now trained to sniff out gunpowder. This means that he’s able to detect bombs and other devices that can explode.

After Russian forces pulled back from areas in northern Ukraine, Ukrainian soldiers discovered that the Russians had left behind lots of mines. Working with Mr. Iliev, his owner, Patron now helps Ukraine’s Emergency Service find and remove mines left behind by Russian soldiers. He works mainly in the city of Chernihiv. So far, Patron has found 236 mines.

His Achivements

As of 8 May 2022, Patron has sniffed 236 Russian explosive devices that failed to detonate.
Was awarded the canine Palm Dog Award for DogManitarian work at the Cannes Film Festival.
Was honored Patron with Medal for Dedicated Service with Order for Courage, Third Class.
