Let's Fika!

It's much more than just a coffee break ☕

Fika isn't just a coffee break, it's a lifestyle, and one that we could all probably use a little more in our lives. Fika is about slowing down. Coffee represents a true break, a momment to sit and contemplate on your own, or to gather with firneds. In Sweden, Coffee is something to look forward to, a moment where everything else stops and you savor the moment. Coffee is acompanied by a sweet treat! The sweets can range from a fancy slice of princess cake, or a simple cinammon bun. Most important, Fika is a time to unwind and socialie with friends, family, or coworkers. In fact, at any Swedish office there is always a fika break, both in the morning and in the afternoon. Maybe fika is the key to happiness?

Get your coffee and baked sweets ready! If you want to feel fancy, you can bake your sweets and display them for your fika time at work or home. Major crowd pleasers are cinnamon buns, pastry filled buns, and chocolate balls. You can get all the Swedish recepies from Melody Favish's book: Swedish Cakes and Cookies.
