A cherry blossom, also known as Japanese cherry or Sakura, is a flower of many trees of genus Prunus or Prunus subg. Cerasus. They are a common species in East Asia, including China, Korea, and especially in Japan.






The National Cherry Blossom festival in Washington D.C The National Cherry Blossom Festival commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city. The Festival can be up to 4 weeks and hosts up to 1.5 million people! Events are primarily free and open to the public. Although donations are appreciated for keeping the festival free and open to the public.
