The battle of Kyiv was part of the Kyiv offensive in the 2022
Russian invasion of Ukraine for control of Kyiv, the capital city of
Ukraine, and surrounding districts. The combatants were elements of
the Russian Armed Forces and Ukrainian Ground Forces. The battle
lasted from 25 February 2022 to 2 April 2022 and ended with the
withdrawal of Russian forces.

The military actions of the Russian side and the actions of
collaborators (including members of the Opposition Platform - For
Life ) led the city to a humanitarian catastrophe . From the first
days of the invasion, the Russian army deliberately destroyed, with
the help of artillery, both military and civilian infrastructure ,
including facilities with media functions, food and medicine
warehouses, towers of mobile telephony operators , power lines ,
pumping stations and main water pipes connecting the city with the
reserve reservoir. In addition, all city buses prepared for the
evacuation of the population were destroyed, which prevented many
civilians from getting out of the surrounding city.
