Geography is often defined in terms of two branches:
human geography and physical geography. Human geography is concerned
with the study of people and their communities, cultures, economies,
and interactions with the environment by studying their relations with
and across space and place. Physical geography is concerned with the
study of processes and patterns in the natural environment like the
atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and geosphere.
The two come together to form a rich and complex history that you
could spend an entire lifetime researching. It is often seen as a
boring subject by many, but it can be directly linked to so many other
studies of human existence, that I personally think it's among the
most fascinating schools of study to exist.
The history of humans is a beautiful and violent one. The formation of
borders, the consolidation of cultures into confined geographical
areas, the culinary creations formed from what is available to certain
peoples, can all be linked to the geography of said groups of people.
The Earth is what shapes us and makes us into who we are as a whole.
