Mac Miller, born Malcom James McCormick, was an American rapper and record producer. He started his career in the hip-hop scene in 2007 at the young age of fifteen. Three years later, he released his iconic mixtape, K.I.D.S. and continued to find incredible success and fame in his rap career.

Despite his high level of success, Mac struggled with substance abuse, which he chronicled in his 2014 mixtape, Faces. Sadly, on September 7th, 2018, Mac died from an accidental overdose in his home.

Shortly after his death, Mac's family created a fund in conjunction with The Pittsburgh Foundation called The Mac Miller Fund. This fund provides resources to youth from disadvantaged communities, helping them recognize their full potential through exploring the arts. The Mac Miller Fund also supports organizations that fight substance abuse and provides those aged 27 and under with addiction-recovery treatment.

From his youthful and optimistic mixtape, Best Day Ever, to his posthumous LP, Circles, Mac's music has touched the lives of people across the world. His legacy is one of love, self-expression, and doing what truly makes you happy. I think that's a message we can all get behind.
