Mariya Prymachenko was born in a small village in Kyiv region. In her childhood she had polio illness and since this time she had been suffering from complications throughout her whole life.
She described her first artistic experiments in later life:
"Once, as a young girl, I was tending a gaggle of geese. When I got with them to a sandy beach, on the bank of the river, after crossing a field dotted with wild flowers, I began to draw real and imaginary flowers with a stick on the sand… Later, I decided to paint the walls of my house using natural pigments. After that I've never stopped drawing and painting."
Mariya was famous among worldwide painters such as Pablo Picasso and director Sergei Parajanov. Her works were displayed throughout Europe and in Canada. Due to russian invasion of Ukraine, some of her works were almost destroyed by occupants. Fortunately, people had managed to rescue the works and they became global symbol of peace.
