📢Why Abortion is Inherently a Woman's Right📢 🚺

And why Pro-life Arguments Fall Flat 👎

When the subject of abortion is brought up, many individuals have strong opinions-men and women. It's a controversial subject in the United States that has 2 ideologies: Pro-life and Pro-choice.

Was Abortion always Illegal? 🚫

Nowadays there is a trend of Women's rights going back in time with more restrictions being placed on abortion rights but if we take a look back at history we can see that "Leaders didn’t outlaw abortion in America until the mid-1800s. From colonial days until those first laws, abortion was a regular part of life for women. Common law allowed abortion prior to “quickening” — an archaic term for fetal movement that usually happens after around four months of pregnancy." according to Planned Parenthood

How Abortion Came to be Illegal in the United States😫🙄

"Starting around the time of the Civil War, a coalition of male doctors — with the support of the Catholic Church and others who wanted to control women’s bodies — led a movement to push state governments to outlaw abortion across the board. The male-dominated medical profession wanted to take authority from the female-dominated profession of midwives, including the authority to provide abortion." - Planned Parenthood
Now we see there is a trend here-it was never about "defending unborn life" but that was the blanket excuse used as men stripped women of their bodily autonomy-and it still continues to happen to this day.

Popular Pro-life Arguments🤰 ⛪

Their Fallacies😤🤡💢

  • Across the world there are many religions. One of the biggest pro-life arguments is that killing an unborn child is a sin and if that is the belief of a religious person it can stay with them. To apply their beliefs onto other is a violation of people's freedom and free will. If one believes that abortion is an evil they should live by their beliefs and not force others to do the same. Not all pregnancies are wanted or consensual, there are cases of rape or women dying if they fulfill the term and no one should be subjected to carrying through such a pregnancy because of the religion of others. Regardless of the circumstances of how the pregnancy came to be, no religion should have the power to revoke bodily autonomy

  • A pro-life individual loves to say adoption is a choice, especially when speaking about someone who cannot afford to give a child a good quality of life but in reality the adoption system is underfunded and too much slips through the cracks. "A John Hopkins University study of a group of foster children in Maryland found that in foster care are four times more likely to be sexually abused than their peers not in this setting, and children in group homes are 28 times more likely to be abused." • Final Thoughts💭👩‍🏫🙌

Ultimately it is the pregnant woman that incurs the burden of pregnancy and child birth and as it is her body that is the gateway to life, she has every right to be the gatekeeper of it as well.
