I have a clear understanding of issues affecting marginalized people including people of color, women, the poor, and the LGBTQIA community.
Bless Waters and Simone Pitts try to understand the intersection between their sexuality and spirituality. Recently married and expecting their first baby girl, they search for an open and affirming faith home. "Bless + Simone", is an intimate portrait of a young lesbian couple struggling to make things work. Watch my documentary below:
The "Class of 1965" project is to research the detailed extent of civil rights activism among Black high school and college students from 1961 to 1965 when the Voting Rights Bill was passed. I will examine the variety, number of demonstrations, marches and sit-ins. I will reach out and interview those who participated and solicit eye-witness accounts. In addition, since many of these persons are now in their 70's and 80's, try to determine their perspective on the current state of race relations and the Black Lives Matter movement. My mother, Dr. Emily Butler Anderson will be one of the first interviews. She is highlighted in the second row, far right image.
