Part Golden Retriever, part Poodle, and all ADORABLE…
It’s the Goldendoodle! They are a hybrid breed beloved for their outgoing nature, friendly personality, and intelligence. As for their coloring, they don’t always have golden fur! In fact, they come in as many different colors as Poodles, ranging from light tan to apricot to chocolate to black.Goldendoodles have shaggy, curly coats that are often described as being allergy-friendly or even hypoallergenic.Goldendoodles are known for being happy, outgoing, and people-pleasing.
Starting with the two purebred parents we have the “P Generation” which simply means 100% purebred. Just think of “P” generation as “Purebred”. When breeding our 2 P generation parents, we get an F1 generation which simply means 50/50 of each P Gen, so in this case our (P) Golden Retriever + (P) Poodle = (F1) Goldendoodle. When you’re seeking the attributes of the Poodle, but you have a breed that is 50/50 (F1), you could breed the F1 with another Poodle to obtain a 75/25 ratio of Poodle/Golden. This is called backcrossing and is denoted with a “b.” So take F1 Goldendoodle: To increase the likelihood of a hypoallergenic breed it could be bred as (F1) Goldendoodle + (P) Poodle to get an (F1b) Goldendoodle.
