History
Created in December 1895 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, volleyball was
originally a combination of features from other sports such as
baseball, tennis and handball. Spalding produced books with complete
instruction and rules for the sport in the early 1900s. The Fédération
Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) was founded in 1947, and the first
World Championships were held in 1949 for men and 1952 for women.

How to Play
The ball is put into play with a serve, and each team then gets three hits to return the ball to the opponent's side of the net. The object of the game is simple: get the ball to touch the floor on your opponent's side of the net to win a point. The team who reaches the winning number of points first, wins!
Players
Volleyball can be played by children or adults and can be women-only, men-only, or co-ed. There are six players per side in indoor volleyball and two players per side in beach volleyball.
