The Virgin Islands, a group of about 90 small islands (although several are uninhabited), islets, cays, and rocks in the West Indies, is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, about 1,100 miles (1770km) southeast of Miami and 70 miles (110km) east of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
St. Thomas is one of the three main United States Virgin Islands, along with St. Croix and St. John. They are made up of mountains, beautiful coral reefs and thick rainforests.
All these islands are small, you could just take a ride to the other side of the island and be back in a couple of hours. St Thomas is only 13 miles (21km) long and 4 miles (6.5km) wide, just a little over 31 square miles (80 square km).
With its inviting subtropical climate, it is perfectly warm any time of the year. St Thomas is mostly mountainous and it offers stunning views as you drive. Just be careful with the potholes on the road 😊
