Movement is fundamental to life

During the last few decades, there has been a common disconnect between the body and mind. When the body is unwell, we choose medical interventions to treat it. When the mind is poorley, we choose medication and/or therapies to heal. Yet, sometimes we often forget to look at the connection between the mind and the body.

Our mental and emotional state can effect our physical wellbeing and vice a versa. This is not to say that we should shun conventional and modern medicine - but within each of our own means, we should apply positive practices that can amplify the great work of our medical professionals.

What type of movement?

Some people may think that you have to sign up for vigourous gym session or attempt a 5K run. Great! If that is what you love to do! However, these activities may seem quite daunting to someone who does not have much experience. If you are new movement, here is are a few suggestions:

  • Going for a walk in you local area or amongst nature.

  • Yoga - if you are nervous about starting a class, you can always check out free videos online. Visit youtube for more info.

  • Dancing - whether it is on your own or in a club - throw on some tunes and get moving!

  • If you have children - try playing with them. Heck, go play with your friends!
