What is Streaming?
The live streaming of video games is an activity where people broadcast
themselves playing games to a live audience online. The practice became
popular in the mid-2010s on the US-based site Twitch, before growing to
YouTube, Facebook, China-based sites Huya Live, DouYu, and Bilibili, and
other services. By 2014, Twitch streams had more traffic than HBO's
online streaming service, HBO Go. Professional streamers often combine
high-level play and entertaining commentary, and earn income from
sponsors, subscriptions, ad revenue, and donations.
Streamers, Unite! is a community that provides a space for any
streamer who are starting out. Currently a go-to space to 248,000
streamers and growing! Workshops, forums, events and game-nights are
held for streamers to network and much more! We believe in building
together; near or far, united.
As the streaming industry has grown significantly since the start of
Covid, it's become a place for both streamers and viewers who gather to
entertain, chat and be together amidst the pandemic. With a community
that's only started a little over a year and a half ago, we are proud to
have built a place to connect with any streamer from small or large. You
are welcome to join.
