Resident Evil 7: Biohazard developed by Capcom is a 2017 game set in a small southern town that has been plagued by missing people reports for years. You play as Ethan Winters who has gone to investigate the illegedly abandoned house of the Baker family after recieving an email from his wife Mia, who has been missing for 3 years, telling him to come and find her there. The game was a much needed boost to the franchise after years of unpopular releases. Part of the reason why this game was sucessful was because it went back to the franchises roots of horror. But this time they amped it up exponentially. Although the game has a few jumpscares the real reason this game is horrifying is the psychological fear that comes from spending any time around the Baker family. Rural, sick, murdering families are some of the most terrifying fictional villains. In the game you will experience bodily harm and mental trauma. Multiple boss fights with each member of the family. Freaks of nature, hard to kill mold creatures, and the fact that you don't know when you do find your wife if she is actually okay or if she too has turned into a monster. And will you follow suit?
