Walking 45 Bridges in Bristol

Take a hike!

This beautiful walk covers 45 bridges, some historic and some new. It's 45km (28 miles) so totally possible to complete over a weekend if you want to. But equally as enjoyable to split into 4 or 5 smaller walks!

The route solves the 'Konigsberg Bridge Problem' - named after a city in Prussia. Konigsberg was a city with seven bridges crossing the river Pregel. The Mayor wanted a way to cross all bridges only once, without having to double back. He challenged the Swiss mathmetician Leonhard Euler in 1736 to solve the problem. Euler came up with a way by using a set of nodes and links - essentially creating a network of bridges.

The route will take you through the following areas of Bristol:

The walk is safe for anyone with reasonable fitness. It's relatively urban so you're unlikely to need any extreme hiking gear. But it's better to over prepare!
Note some of the bridges may close every now and again for maintenence so check out the Bristol City Countil website for any road closures or diversions HERE
