This beautiful walk covers 45 bridges, some historic and some new. It's
45km (28 miles) so totally possible to complete over a weekend if you want
to. But equally as enjoyable to split into 4 or 5 smaller walks!
The route solves the 'Konigsberg Bridge Problem' - named after a city in
Prussia. Konigsberg was a city with seven bridges crossing the river
Pregel. The Mayor wanted a way to cross all bridges only once, without
having to double back. He challenged the Swiss mathmetician Leonhard Euler
in 1736 to solve the problem. Euler came up with a way by using a set of
nodes and links - essentially creating a network of bridges.
