Every family has recipes that have been passed down through the generations. Each one represents fond memories and in our family, the most important one to me, is nonna's sugo. Sugo is Italian for sauce and is most commonly referred to as the tomato-based sauce used for pasta or pizza dishes. Sugo can be made with very few ingredients, but always includes; tomatoes, olive oil, onion, garlic and herbs. In my family, we always include a little sugar and some vegetable stock.
