Tea has been used for thousands of years in the East for its health benefits. There are studies finding that tea while having antimicrobial qualities, it also helps with lowering cholesterol, managing diabetes, and lowering your risk of heart complications. Tea, while having less caffeine than coffee is great for mental alertness due to catechin levels.
Teas used for health benefits are black tea, white tea, & green tea.
Green tea is made with steamed leaves & has a higher concentration of catechins.
It has shown to interfere with the growth of cancer, prevent clogging arteries,
burn fat, counteract oxidative stress on the brain, improve cholesterol levels, &
reduce the risk of stroke & neurological disorders.
Black tea is made with fermented leaves & has the highest level of caffeine & has
been shown to protect the lungs from damage caused by cigarette smoke.
White tea is made with uncured & unfermented leaves. A study shows that of all the
teas, white tea has the most potent anticancer properties.
