Clay is a wonderful material with unique properties, that can be
fun to experiment with.
Performance and installation artist Alexandra Engelfiret is one
of my inspirations when it comes to using the properties of clay to its
full potential, showing how every imprint in the process affects the
final product. In her work Tranchée (2013), she focuses less on
the finished product and more on the process of molding the clay. In
contrast to traditional artists working with the medium,Engelfriet makes
a point of embracing human imperfection, such as her fingerprints,
leaving notable imprints of her presence as an artist in her works.
