Lowbrow Art Magazines

Lowbrow Art Magazines like Juxtapoz and Hi-Fructose, lead the way in promoting the pop-surrealist art genre.

Lowbrow, or lowbrow art, is an underground visual art movement that arose in the Los Angeles, California area in the late 1960s. It is a populist art movement with its cultural roots in underground comix, punk music, tiki culture, graffiti, and hot-rod cultures of the street.

In the mid-nineties Juxtapoz Magazine was created by a group of contemporary artists and art collectors, both to help define and celebrate urban alternative and underground contemporary art. The year 2004 witnessed the creation of Hi-Fructose Magazine, again created by a pair of contemporary artists to showcase an amalgamation of new contemporary, emerging as well distinguished artists, with a spotlight on awe inspiring spectacles from round the world.

Both of these publications are now at the forefront of the Lowbrow Art movement and the place for up and coming artists to strive to have their work seen.
