Human rights pertains to all humans- despite nationality, race, religion,
or culture. One leading cause to inequality of human rights is the lack of
access to birth certificates. When a person does not have a birth
certificate, there is no official record of their existence. Without this
recognition, they are not recognized by their government, are missed in
medical services such as vital immunizations, cannot enroll in school, and
are ubable to access the justice system and available social services they
otherwise would qualify for.
Millions currently lack possession of a birth certificate. This
increases likelihood of poverty, vulnerability, and inequity.
