Hydroponics is a type of horticulture where plants are grown
using an
aqueous solution instead of soil.
Substitutes for soil include coconut coir, plastic tubing, net cups,
sponges, and many more soil-free growth mediums. The solution can simply
consist of water, but for the plants to grow well and healthy, people tend
to mix water with various minerals and liquid fertilizers, such as liquid
seaweed fertilizer.
Some fruits and vegetables that are commonly grown hydroponically are
tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries. Many herbs can grow hydroponically
as well! Fenugreek and coriander seeds can easily grow into microgreens
with just water!
