Birding 101

Birding, also known as bird watching, is the act of observing birds for recreation, or documenting bird species for citizen science. Birding can be done by anyone, anywhere, and at any time. Birding is easily done using your eyes, ears, or both. Many birders use binoculars, a telescope, and/or a field guide of local birds to enhance the overall experience.

Birds are everywhere! They want to be seen and they want to be heard, so it's not hard to find them. Here are some great reasons to get started birding:
